Mission
Published: 12 July 2010Our mission isto generate and transfer knowledge to the community through
i) initial and long-life learning at university level in the fields of Physics and Applied Physics, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, for the personal development of the individual and for satisfying the needs of the regional and european socio-economical environment;
ii) scientific research, innovation and knowledge transfer in the fields of Physics and Applied Physics, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, for a regional sustainable social and economical development.
The values that lie at the foundation of our activity and which we want to convey to our students are inspired from the life of the roman poet Ovidius: love and understanding for other people, courage to fight for one's ideas and beliefs, dignity to accept both a success and a failure, perseverence in the struggle to create, to leave a lasting mark of one's existance on Earth.
Our vision for the future is that by implementing modern academic programs, in line with the present european standards and in accordance with the requirements of the labor market, by recruiting rutstanding teaching and research staff, by developing a high-level teaching and research infrastructure, by establishing partneriships with companies for a quality practical training of our students, aour graduate will be prepared to compete in a environment in which the focus is on creativity, flexibility, adaptability, interdisciplinarity, as it is envisaged for knowledge-based society of the future, .
